One thing that you
need to keep in mind about ALL traffic generating techniques is this: the
visitors you get are from that particular pool of people. For that reason,
all of these programs are important pieces that fit together in an overall
strategy. Combined they give you the broadest range of coverage
across a number of different groups (types) of people.
Pop-up
Ad Exchanges
Pop-up
Ads are a great way to give your website traffic a big
boost. Once you are getting traffic to your site, you
can use pop-up ad exchanges to quickly increase those visitors by 60 to 188 percent. The way these services work is you register, get some html
code to embed in the target page, and then when a visitor comes to (or
leaves) that page an ad from the servicing company pops up in a new
window. The best offer further credits through their referral
programs.
While any one of
these programs offer a maximum of 1:1 exchange and don't allow you to put their
exchange code on the same page as one of their competitors, by combining them
across different pages you can maximize return on your existing traffic.
Let me illustrate by example.
With
no use of pop-up ads. Let's say you have a three page website
that gets 1000 visitors a month on page one, 500 visitors a month on page two
and 250 visitors a month on page three. This totals
1000 unique visitors and 1750 page views. (I only use a small
number for illustration purposes. If you are only getting 1000 visitors a
month to see your website then you really really need to implement a traffic
strategy).
When
you use pop-up ads. Register with SwapAPage
(1:1 exchange, please use www.webloot.net
as the referring url) and put
their code in your page one so right away you have gone from 1000 to 2000
unique visitors. On page two put the code you get from registering with BigHits
(2:1 exchange). Since you now have 1000 visitors coming to
page two (half of the people who saw page one) the exchange will bring another
500 unique visitors. That increases the total visitor count to that page
to 1500. Now, on page three put the code you get from ExitExchange
(2:1
exchange). Since the visitor count you get here is half of page two (750)
this exchange will provide another 375 unique, bringing the page total to 1125. Here's a table to show how it all adds up.

Pretty impressive
isn't it? A simply strategy yet it yields significant results. This
totals 2875 unique visitors and 4625 page views. Oh, and there is
one more thing. Some of the new unique visitors coming in and seeing page
two or three as their first page (you know, the ones coming in from ExitExchange
and BigHits) will also go and visit the other pages. What that means is
your exposure on the other pages will in reality be higher.
Some
Ad Exchange Sites
From experience I
can tell you the best of these sites is McExit. The most widely know is probably ExitExchange but they have numerous
problems--slow site speed (for months) which results in you getting less
credits; their 2:1 ration is not really 2:1 (it is more like 3 or 4:1); and they
have problems with tracking referrals correctly (they take the referral rather
than give it to the site bringing the new webmaster). If you are a webmaster
using ExitExchange then I strongly recommend you switch to McExit. Make no other changes and you will immediately see
an increase in how many site visitors you get.
More Resources
There are a variety of
other ways to get exposure to your opportunities as
well. These take different forms: just getting as many visitors as you can
coming to see your opportunity (raw traffic); Ezines giving targeted
visitors; posting your ad to classified sites; reverse marketing; submitting
your site to search engines; etc. etc. Here are some of my favorites, some
free, some not.
Pick the ones that are most suitable to your advertising budget.
